Jay Candelario, CHRS, Certified Health Reform Specialist and Principal Broker, has more than 35 years of combined experience in the medical and insurance industry. A graduate of Fordham University in NYC, his career includes twenty-seven years working for Fortune 500 medical industry leaders. This experience provided a keen understanding of how medical services are delivered to consumers and paid for by insurance companies. In 2007, Jay had to marshal all his medical experience when his wife was struck with a debilitating illness forcing Jay to leave his corporate management job to provide care for his wife at home. A year later, with the help of his two daughters, Candelario Family Insurance Agency was founded with the mission to use Jay’s unique medical experiences and knowledge to educate clients on how to utilize medical insurance as a necessary tool that can yield positive quality of life and financial results. Jay strongly believes his strong medical background and experience as his wife’s medical caregiver and advocate are the unique ingredients that have made Candelario Family Insurance Agency a trusted, and valued Employee Benefits Consulting Firm.
Jay has regularly been quoted in industry publications and has appeared on local TV as an expert on The Affordable Care Act. Community activities included, Coach Challenger Little League for Children with Special Needs, Volunteering as a High School Mentor, Board Member Pioneer Day School for Autism Foundation, and the San Diego YMCA.
When not helping others, Jay participates in the martial arts, loves to cook and hang out with his three children, two grandchildren, three dogs, cat, and bearded dragon.
